There’s a version of your home that most people never see — the one that exists after dark. The oak tree in the front yard that disappears at sundown. The pool that goes dark by 7PM. The architectural details you spent money on that become invisible the moment the sun goes down. In Orlando, where the evenings are warm enough to be outside eleven months out of the year, that’s a lot of wasted outdoor living time.
Lightscapes has been designing and installing custom outdoor lighting systems throughout the Orlando area for over 25 years. We work on residential properties, commercial properties, HOA entrances, fountains, and waterfront docks — and every system we build starts with a design that’s specific to your property, not a template pulled off a truck. If you’re ready to see what your home looks like after dark with the right lighting, call us at (407) 895-9000 or use the estimate form on this page.
Most outdoor lighting content is written for generic audiences in generic climates. Orlando isn’t either of those things, and the reasons outdoor lighting makes exceptional sense here are specific to this place.
Unlike most of the country, Orlando homeowners don’t retreat indoors for five months of the year. The climate gives you genuine outdoor living time nearly every evening — the question is whether your outdoor space is set up to use it after dark. An unlit patio or pool deck stops being usable the moment the sun sets, regardless of how comfortable the temperature is. Landscape lighting extends every evening into genuinely usable outdoor time.
Orlando properties tend to have mature, lush landscaping — palms, oaks, ornamental trees, tropical plantings — that look spectacular when lit properly. The right uplighting on a mature live oak or a cluster of sabal palms creates the kind of dramatic effect that changes how a home reads from the street entirely. Florida’s plant material is some of the most visually compelling in the country. Good lighting makes it visible when it’s actually comfortable to be outside — in the evening.
Well-designed landscape lighting deters intrusion without making your home look like a parking garage. Illuminated pathways, lit entry areas, and subtle perimeter lighting eliminate the dark corners and blind spots that make a property attractive to opportunistic crime — all without the harsh, unflattering floodlight look. It’s security that improves curb appeal rather than compromising it.
Most curb appeal improvements — fresh paint, new landscaping, hardscape updates — are visible only during daylight hours. Outdoor lighting is the only improvement that works specifically when your neighbors, guests, and potential future buyers are driving through the neighborhood in the evening. In a market like Orlando, where neighborhoods like Winter Park, Dr. Phillips, and Lake Nona have strong home values and competitive resale markets, a well-lit exterior is a meaningful differentiator.
Custom-designed systems for homes throughout the Orlando area. We work with your home’s architecture, existing landscaping, and the way you actually use your outdoor spaces to create a lighting design that makes sense for your property specifically. Whether you want dramatic uplighting on specimen trees, subtle path lighting along your driveway, or a fully integrated pool and patio lighting system, we design it from scratch for your yard.
Design is where most Orlando landscape lighting companies cut corners — they show up with a truck full of fixtures and install them in whatever configuration seems reasonable. We approach every project as a design exercise first. We look at which architectural features deserve to be highlighted, how the light will fall at different times of evening, what color temperature works with your home’s exterior finishes, and where light sources need to be hidden so you see the effect and not the fixture. The result is lighting that looks like it was always meant to be there.
If you have an existing low-voltage lighting system that’s running on older halogen or incandescent technology, converting to LED is one of the highest-return lighting investments you can make. Modern LED landscape fixtures use 75–80% less energy than their halogen equivalents, last 5–10x longer, and produce better, more consistent light. We upgrade existing systems throughout the Orlando area — keeping the wiring and transformer where they’re in good condition and replacing the fixture heads with current LED technology.
Retail centers, office parks, restaurants, hotels, and multi-family properties throughout Orlando benefit from the same design-forward approach we bring to residential work. A well-lit commercial exterior communicates quality, improves wayfinding, and creates the kind of nighttime presence that draws attention. We handle commercial projects of all scales, from a single restaurant entrance to a full retail center lighting redesign.
Fountain and water feature lighting, dock and waterfront lighting, HOA entrance lighting, and holiday lighting installation — we handle all of it. Central Florida’s abundance of lakes, waterways, and community entrances creates specialty lighting opportunities that are genuinely unique to this market. See our dedicated pages for dock lighting, fountain lighting, and HOA entrance lighting for more detail on each.
We maintain lighting systems throughout the Orlando area — fixture cleaning, bulb replacement, timer adjustments, wire repairs, and system audits. If your existing system was installed by another company and needs attention, we’ll assess it honestly and tell you what’s worth repairing and what isn’t.

We visit your Orlando property in the evening when possible — seeing the existing light conditions and natural darkness is part of how we design. We walk the property with you, identify the features worth highlighting, discuss how you use your outdoor spaces, and talk through options at different investment levels. You leave with a clear sense of what the finished system will look and feel like.
We produce a lighting design specific to your property — fixture placement, beam angles, color temperatures, transformer sizing, and wire routing — along with a complete written proposal. No vague estimates. You know exactly what you’re getting before any work begins.
Our installation crews are trained lighting specialists, not general landscapers handed a box of fixtures. We install cleanly — wires buried, fixtures properly staked or mounted, transformer programmed and tested. We don’t leave a job until the system is operating exactly as designed.
We come back after dark to walk the completed installation with you. This is where we make final aim adjustments, verify color temperatures look right in real conditions, and confirm every fixture is performing as intended. Most companies skip this step. We consider it essential.
We offer maintenance programs that keep your system performing at its best year-round — seasonal timer adjustments, fixture cleaning, and priority service when something needs attention. A landscape lighting system is an ongoing investment, and we treat it that way.

“The design process was what set them apart. They actually came out at night to look at the property before designing the system. Nobody else we talked to did that.” — Jennifer L., Lake Nona
A starter residential landscape lighting system for a typical Orlando home — front yard uplighting on 3–5 trees or shrubs, pathway lighting along the driveway or walkway, and entry area illumination — runs $1,500–$3,500 installed. A comprehensive system covering front and back yard, pool area, and architectural features typically runs $4,000–$10,000+ depending on property size, fixture count, and design complexity. We provide a complete itemized proposal at the free consultation so you know exactly what the investment looks like before committing.
We use premium LED low-voltage fixtures from manufacturers built for Florida’s climate — specifically products rated for humidity, UV exposure, and the salt air that affects properties near the coast or larger water bodies. We don’t install big-box store fixtures. The products we specify are designed to last 15–20 years in this environment without corroding, fading, or losing their light output. The fixture brand and model is always included in our proposal so you know exactly what you’re getting.
A standard residential installation for an average Orlando home typically takes one full day. Larger properties or more complex systems may run two days. We confirm the installation timeline at the proposal stage and hold to it. We don’t leave a job site partially completed — every installation is finished and operational before we leave.
Yes — properly installed low-voltage landscape lighting is designed to operate in wet conditions. All of our fixtures are rated for outdoor use and installed with weatherproof connections. Florida’s rainy season (June through September) is actually one of the more dramatic times to view landscape lighting, as the rain-wet surfaces and humidity in the air give the light a richer, more atmospheric quality. The only routine weather-related maintenance is checking that soil erosion around fixture stakes hasn’t shifted the aim after heavy rain events.
Yes. Landscape lighting installation is low-impact — the wire runs are shallow (typically 6 inches), fixtures stake into the ground without excavation, and we route wire paths around root zones rather than through them. Twenty-five years of installations in Central Florida has given us a thorough understanding of how to work around mature oaks, palms, and the root systems common to established Orlando landscaping. We’ve never had a client lose a plant to a lighting installation.
Low-voltage systems (12V) are the standard for residential landscape lighting and what we install almost exclusively. They run off a transformer that steps down your home’s 120V current, making the system safe for DIY wire repair, energy-efficient, and easy to expand or modify over time. Line-voltage (120V) systems are used for some commercial applications and specific fixture types but are rarely the right choice for residential landscape lighting. Every system we install uses low-voltage LED technology.
Yes. We assess and service existing systems regardless of who installed them. We’ll tell you honestly what’s worth repairing, what needs replacement, and what’s performing fine. If a system is fundamentally well-designed but just needs maintenance or fixture upgrades, we’ll say so. If the wiring or transformer is undersized and causing ongoing problems, we’ll explain that clearly along with what a proper repair or redesign would cost.
We serve the full Orlando metro area including Winter Park, Winter Garden, Dr. Phillips, Lake Nona, Oviedo, Apopka, Maitland, Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Longwood, Sanford, and all of Orange and Seminole counties. Our team is based in Winter Park and we’ve worked on properties throughout Central Florida for over 25 years.
A free evening consultation costs you nothing and takes about an hour. We visit your property, walk it with you, and show you what the right lighting would do for your home’s exterior. No obligation, no pressure to commit on the spot.
